BOISE TRANS COLLECTIVE

Grant Category: Resilience

When our trans siblings know they can come to us when they lose their insurance, or grow out of their only binder, we hope it takes a small weight off of their backs. INTERSEX COMMUNITY HEALTH COALITION

Text reads: The Intersex Community Health Coalition is an emerging organization comprised of intersex activists and other allied professionals united in the goal of creating a world that is not only welcoming but also celebrates and uplifts intersex people. As an intersex led group, our project goals include developing educational materials and consulting services to ensure accurate representation in health and advocacy spaces. We seek justice, reparations, and radical reform to secure open futures for intersex persons and those born with variation in their sex characteristics (VSCs). We recognize that centering community voice and autonomy in research, health, and advocacy is vital to ending intersex oppression across systems. LA VIDA DE LA PUTA ES BELLA

Text: La Vida de la Puta es Bella is a storytelling film project created and produced by and for TPOC sex workers impacted by HIV. We want to highlight the wisdom and contributions by trans elders in our community through a series of story portraits that spread a message of resilience, joy and share the rich history that holds us up today. Beyond weaving intersectionalities of gender, race, HIV status, immigration, disability, and aging, this film project is also about bringing together the sex worker community to deeply consider ways we can care for and tend to older generations who have birthed and carried us. The Stonewall Inn

Text: The Stonewall Inn is a low-barrier, peer-led space offering emergency shelter, crisis intervention, food, hygiene supplies, and gender-affirming support based in Pittsburgh, PA. At the Stonewall Inn, our mission is to create a welcoming and affirming environment that offers essential services, advocacy, and support. We aim to address the unique challenges faced by transgender individuals, particularly those who are marginalized and underserved. Through comprehensive care, outreach programs, and community-building activities, we strive to empower our constituents and foster a more inclusive society. The Stonewall Inn is scheduled to open in 2026. T4T Prom

Text: T4T Prom is an initiative by members of trans mutual aid groups on the West Coast and Central Florida. We believe that collective joy is the cornerstone to our experience as trans people in the south and historically, many of us have not been able to show up to prom at all, let alone as our authentic selves. This event seeks to give our communities a night to rewrite their experiences surrounded by their peers, fed, protected, and boldly loved. We envision a prom filled with t boys in tropical-print dad shirts, dolls in camo crop-tops and all manner of queer rabble filling the hall with singing and laughter at the top of their lungs! Visual Narratives Project

Grant Category: Creativity

Amount Awarded: $2500
This project focuses on highlighting and empowering undocumented trans Latina Women through visual narratives that reflect their everyday lives, strengths and aspirations. We create safe and empowering spaces to reclaim stories, highlight struggles, and spotlights achievements within an adverse social and political context. These visual narratives are not only a means to highlight our lives, but are also a form of collective healing, where we show that undocumented Trans Latina Women’s stories and contributions are valuable. Our 2023 Grantees

In 2023, $15,000 was awarded to the following six grantees through the Teaching Transgender Toolkit’s Investing in Community microgrants. The Uplifting Trans Fund carries forward the mission of the 2023 grants.

AYNI HERB FARM

2024 Update:  Ayni Herb Farm is entering its second year growing an abundance of medicinal and culinary herbs in the Hudson Valley. Some exciting updates include our growing team and more community gatherings on the land. This year khadija khansia is joining the Ayni team as a co-leader, focusing on medicine making and gatherings such as new moon circles and seasonal grief circles for our community. With a bigger team, Ayni is also growing its footprint, growing more herbs for our medicinal herb CSA, now being offered in four locations from NYC to the course region. The expansion is also allowing Ayni to meet mutual aid needs in the community, supplying seedlings, dried herbs and herbal medicine for various mutual aid projects in the region. TRANS CLOSET OF THE HUDSON VALLEY

2024 Update:  In 2023 we continued our work providing clothing and accessories to the Hudson Valley trans community at no cost. We hosted events for Trans Day of Visibility and Trans Day of Remembrance and hosted monthly drop in hours for Trans people to “shop” the closet and volunteers to help sort inventory and fill requests that we mail or deliver to people with limited mobility or transportation. These funds also helped us roll out our Care Package program, where we create care packages for trans folks who are preparing to undergo gender-affirming surgery.  Learn more at their website, or on social media as @transclosethv.

TRANS PRISONER POWER

2024 Update:  Our original proposal for a Trans Prisoner Power art exchange program has blossomed into a flourishing effort to connect outside artists with our incarcerated contributors through weekly programming at our physical space. Having just celebrated our 1-year anniversary at the storefront, we’ve been honored to routinely host a fierce and vibrant local community that gathers in appreciation of the imprisoned artists whose work fills the walls, shelves and cabinets to bursting. TRANSMEN CAN COOK

2024 Update:  Black Transmen Can Cook’s published date is August 2024. We are featuring 9 Black Transmen with recipes and the stories behind their recipes and what it was like to live in the kitchen as a young child and now as a Black Transman. QUEER & TRANS PLEASURE ACADEMY

2024 Update:  Since receiving the micro-grant, I’ve been able to begin research for the queer and trans pleasure anatomical guides and diagrams! The grant meant that I was able to take time out of my busy schedule to find and purchase books and articles, as well as consult experts on emerging research. I’ve been able to draft sections, sketch diagrams, and begin planning to find contributors. As of April 2024, internal diagrams are well on their way to being finished, and external diagrams are just getting started. Follow Eli on social media @eli.scriver.
