Our 2027 Grant Cycle

We are currently fundraising to meet the threshold to announce the timeline for our 2027 grant cycle.  Once we have reached that $15,000 threshold, we will post the information on our timeline and process on this page and will announce it on our email listOur 2027 Priority Area is Rural Communities. We are leaving the 2026 cycle information here to help give you a sense of how things work.

Our 2026 Application Process & Timeline

We are thrilled to be able to award six $2500 microgrants to projects that support and celebrate transgender, non-binary, and intersex people and communities. We invite applications for projects that fall into our 4 ongoing grant categories: Advocacy, Creativity, Joy & Resilience, as well as our 5th category which is a priority category chosen for each grant cycle. Our 2026 priority area is Uplifting Two Spirit People & Communities.

We know that there are many more amazing projects that deserve to be funded than we can support as a tiny organization, so we are using a 2-part grant application approach to help create more equity across the process, and limit the unpaid labor we ask of applicants and volunteer reviewers. Our first round will help us learn more about and determine the eligibility of all proposed projects, and then we will use a random number generator to 100 select eligible projects (20 per grant category) to move to Round 2 and complete a full application. Our Round 2 application will ask more detailed questions about the project goals and implementation plans. You do not need to be or have a grant writer to complete this application!

The Round 2 applications will be reviewed by a team of volunteers, based on 5 criteria: 1) Fit with UTF’s Mission, 2) Benefits to Community, 3) Fit with Grant Category, 4) Feasibility, and 5) Overall Project Goals & Plan. Final award decisions will be made by the UTF Board of Directors.

The Uplifting Trans Fund does not discriminate and invites applications from any individual or group with a mission-aligned proposal.  UTF does not make selection decisions on the basis of any individual’s race, color, religious creed, ancestry, age, sex, gender identity, national  origin, handicap or disability or another characteristic protected under applicable law.
